Speaker: Mrs Lonneke Dikmans Oracle ACE Director UKOUG Speaker Award Winner
Company: eProseed
Co-presenter: Luc Bors - eProseed, ACE Director
Lancy Silveira - Oracle
Presentation abstract: Apart from consumer applications, IoT can also offer great opportunities in the Enterprise. eProseed and Oracle organized a hack-a-thon to elicit use cases from industries. Different types of people were invited: students, Oracle professionals and industry specialists. The starting situation consisted of services to start back-end processes, Oracle PaaS services to easily connect to these services and a starter kit to generate signals. We started the day with a kick off and an explanation of the rules. Then everyone started working on his or her use case. The Oracle office stayed open, so people could continue working if they liked. The teams had to check in the code the next day, at 3 pm. A profession jury evaluated the result of 27 hours of coding (for those who did not sleep). Judging criteria were: 1. Enterprise applicability, 2. Productizability and execution, 3. User experience and demonstrability. This session is an in-depth report of this hack-a-thon, the use cases that were realized and technology that was used. After attending this session, delegates will have a good idea of what IoT can mean in the enterprise, how Oracle tooling and platforms facilitate this and how Cloud fits into this picture.
